Firmness and Support Comparison
Firmness Level
The Zinus 6-Inch King Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is rated as medium firm. This balance aims to provide pressure relief while maintaining some support. The Novilla 12-Inch King 5-Zone Hybrid Mattress is listed with a firm rating in its attributes, though its features describe a medium-firm feel. This discrepancy means you should verify the exact feel you prefer. A firm rating typically offers less sink, while medium firm provides a softer contour. Check the specific model you choose, as variations exist. The Zinus offers a consistent medium-firm label across its data points.
Mattress Construction
Construction defines how a mattress feels and lasts. The Zinus model uses an all-foam design with green tea-infused memory foam and a high-density base foam. This creates a uniform feel throughout the surface. The Novilla model is a hybrid, combining gel memory foam with pocket coils and a 5-zone support system. The coils in the Novilla provide targeted support for the head, lower back, and legs. Hybrids often feel bouncier than all-foam models. The Zinus is simpler, while the Novilla offers complex zoning for spinal alignment.
Thickness and Profile
Thickness affects how you perceive the layers. The Zinus mattress is only 6 inches thick. This low profile sits closer to the bed frame and may feel firmer due to the thin comfort layer. The Novilla mattress is 12 inches thick. This double the height allows for more layers of gel memory foam and a pillow-top. The extra thickness provides a plush feel on top of the support core. If you prefer a deep, cushioned sleep experience, the thicker Novilla is the better choice. The Zinus is better for low-profile frames.
Cover Material
The cover interacts directly with your skin. The Zinus features a soft poly jacquard cover. This material is durable and provides a standard textile feel. It does not have special cooling properties listed. The Novilla uses a cooling gel cover. This is designed to help dissipate heat during sleep. Gel-infused covers are often preferred by hot sleepers. The Zinus cover is simple and functional. The Novilla cover adds a temperature-regulating feature. If you sleep hot, the gel cover in the Novilla is a significant advantage.
Certification and Safety
Both mattresses prioritize safety standards. The Zinus foam is CertiPUR-US certified. This ensures the foam is made without harmful chemicals and meets durability standards. The Novilla also uses CertiPUR-US certified memory foam. Both products meet this industry standard for content and emissions. There is no difference in the certification level provided in the data. Both are safe choices regarding chemical content. You can expect similar off-gassing behavior initially, though the Novilla mentions being odor-free.
Special Features
Unique features can change your sleep quality. The Zinus includes green tea and activated charcoal infused into the foam. These ingredients are marketed for freshness and moisture absorption. They do not affect support. The Novilla includes a 5-zone precision support system with pocket springs. This zoning targets specific body areas for better alignment. It also features a pillow-top layer for extra comfort. The Novilla has more advanced structural features for support and pressure relief compared to the Zinus basic infusion.
Which Mattress Fits Your Needs
Budget-conscious light sleepers
You need a low-profile bed that fits tight spaces. This 6-inch all-foam model uses green tea-infused memory foam for pressure relief. Its CertiPUR-US certification ensures safe materials. The thin design suits guest rooms or kids' beds where a high profile is unnecessary.
Sleepers needing spinal alignment
You require structured support to maintain proper posture. This hybrid features 5-zone pocket coils that target the head, lower back, and legs. The gel memory foam adds cooling comfort. The firm construction helps keep your spine aligned throughout the night without sinking too deeply.
Hot sleepers seeking cooling
You want to stay cool while you sleep. This mattress includes gel memory foam designed to dissipate heat. The hybrid construction with pocket coils allows for better airflow than all-foam designs. The pillow-top layer adds comfort without trapping warmth, ensuring a comfortable temperature all night.
Shoppers wanting easy setup
You prefer a lightweight option that is easy to move. This model weighs only 41.7 pounds and arrives compressed in a box. It expands quickly after unboxing. The simple all-foam construction requires no complex assembly, making it ideal for renters or those moving frequently.
