Thickness, Firmness, and Cover Details
Thickness and Profile
The Milliard 4.5 Inch Full Memory Foam sits at 4.5 inches tall. It uses a 3-inch firm polyurethane base topped with 1.5 inches of soft memory foam. The Milliard Full Size Futon Mattress stands taller at 6 inches. It features a 4-inch high-density base with 2 inches of responsive memory foam. The extra inch on the futon model adds more cushioning depth. This profile suits nightly sleep or casual lounging better. The thinner 4.5-inch model remains a strong choice for tight spaces like campers or boat cabins where low clearance matters.
Firmness Level
Firmness differs significantly between these two options. The 4.5 Inch Memory Foam is labeled firm. Its thick polyurethane base provides a solid, supportive surface. The Full Size Futon Mattress is labeled soft. It relies on plush memory foam to cradle pressure points. If you prefer a traditional, supportive feel, the firmer 4.5-inch model is the practical pick. If you want a sink-in sensation for lounging, the softer futon mattress delivers. Your choice depends entirely on whether you prioritize support or plush comfort.
Cover Material and Care
Both models offer removable covers, but the materials vary. The 4.5 Inch Memory Foam includes a jacquard waterproof soft cover. It is ventilated to help body heat dissipate and is washable. The Full Size Futon Mattress uses a removable knit fabric cover. It is machine washable and designed to stay soft after cycles. The waterproof jacquard on the thinner model offers protection against spills. The knit cover on the futon model prioritizes breathability and a classic fabric feel. Choose based on whether you need waterproof protection or a standard textile feel.
Certification and Safety
Safety certifications provide peace of mind for indoor use. The Milliard Full Size Futon Mattress is CertiPUR-US certified. This ensures the foam meets standards for content, emissions, and durability. The data for the 4.5 Inch Memory Foam does not list a specific certification. While it uses similar bi-layered foam, the lack of listed certification makes the futon model the safer bet for health-conscious buyers. If certified foam is a priority for your home environment, the futon mattress has a clear advantage here.
Dimensions and Fit
Both mattresses are Full size, measuring 52 inches wide. The 4.5 Inch Memory Foam is 73 inches long. The Full Size Futon Mattress is 71 inches long. The futon model is slightly shorter, which may affect fit on certain frames. The 4.5-inch model offers extra length. Both fit standard full-size folding frames. The futon model weighs 30 pounds. Weight data is not provided for the 4.5-inch model. If you need maximum length for taller users, the 4.5-inch model is the better choice.
