It is designed to provide medium-firm support for full-size frames. The listing highlights targeted lumbar support and breathable airflow through its coil-and-foam design. We look at how these specific dimensions and materials define the sleep experience for you.
What stands out
- 14-inch height provides substantial profile and deep support layers.
- Hybrid build combines pocketed coils with cooling gel foam for airflow.
- Medium-firm feel targets optimal spinal alignment for back and side sleepers.
- Pocketed springs isolate motion, absorbing 83% of transfer for undisturbed rest.
- CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certified materials ensure low VOCs and no fiberglass.
Who it fits
Good fit for
This mattress suits couples who value motion isolation, as the pocketed coils absorb significant movement. It is also ideal for back and side sleepers seeking a medium-firm surface that balances pressure relief with lumbar support. The 14-inch profile works well for those who prefer a deeper, more substantial bed. Additionally, buyers concerned about chemical exposure will appreciate the fiberglass-free, certified materials used in its construction.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you prefer a plush, soft feel, as this model is rated medium-firm to firm. The 14-inch height may be too tall for some bed frames or users who struggle to get in and out of bed. If you need a mattress under 12 inches thick, this option is not suitable. Also, if you prioritize a purely foam feel without any spring bounce, the hybrid coil system may not match your preference.
Verdict: The VISCOFLEX 14 Inch Full Hybrid offers a sturdy, supportive sleep surface defined by its hybrid coil-and-foam build. It is a practical choice for those seeking motion isolation and spinal alignment in a full-size frame.
Key specs explained for this mattress
Thickness: 14 in
This mattress sits 14 inches tall. That height provides a substantial feel and allows for deeper foam layers above the coil system. You get more cushioning on top, which helps with pressure relief for side sleepers. When comparing mattresses, thicker profiles often indicate more comfort materials. This depth ensures the bed sits well on most standard frames without looking too low to the ground.
Firmness: Medium Firm
The listing defines this as medium firm. This balance offers support without feeling too hard. It suits back and stomach sleepers who need spinal alignment. Side sleepers may find it supportive for hips and shoulders. When shopping, compare this to soft beds that sink in or extra firm ones that feel rigid. This level aims for a versatile feel for mixed sleeping positions.
Mattress Construction: Hybrid (pocket springs and foam)
This design combines pocketed coils with foam layers. The coils provide bounce and airflow, while the foam adds contouring comfort. You get the durability of springs with the pressure relief of foam. This hybrid approach helps prevent heat buildup compared to all-foam beds. When comparing, note that hybrids often offer better edge support and easier movement than pure foam alternatives.
Certification: CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX, fiberglass free
These certifications verify material safety. CertiPUR-US ensures the foam is made without harmful chemicals and has low emissions. OEKO-TEX confirms the textiles are free from harmful substances. Being fiberglass-free removes a common irritant found in some cheaper beds. You can sleep knowing the materials meet strict safety standards. When shopping, look for these marks to ensure a non-toxic sleep environment.
Design and build details
According to the listing, the VISCOFLEX 14 Inch Full Hybrid uses a hybrid construction that pairs pocket springs with foam layers. This design aims to balance support with pressure relief. The comfort layer features cooling gel foam, which helps manage heat retention during sleep. The cover material is described as a cooling gel fabric, intended to keep the surface temperature stable throughout the night. The mattress contains no fiberglass and meets CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX standards for low emissions.
The physical dimensions are precise for a full-size bed. It measures 54 inches wide and 74 inches long, fitting standard full-size frames. The height is 14 inches, providing a substantial profile that allows for deeper cushioning layers. This thickness supports better spinal alignment by keeping the hips and shoulders properly elevated. The total weight is 77.4 pounds, which suggests a sturdy build that remains stable on the bed frame.
The finish is available in Navy Blue, offering a neutral look for most bedrooms. The mattress arrives compressed in a box, making it easier to move through narrow hallways and stairs. You can unbox it and let it expand to its full 14-inch height. The medium-firm feel targets extra back and lumbar support, which suits back and combination sleepers who need firm surface contact. The pocketed coil system isolates motion, reducing disturbance from a partner's movements.
Setup And Daily Use Guide
This mattress arrives compressed in a box, which simplifies the setup process for you. You place the rolled unit on your full-size bed frame, cut the packaging, and allow the foam and coils to expand to its full 14-inch height. The listing notes it is a bed-in-a-box product, meaning you do not need professional installation or complex assembly tools. Once expanded, the 77.4-pound unit sits securely on standard slats or a solid foundation. The hybrid construction of pocket springs and foam provides a stable base that resists shifting during daily use. Because it is a hybrid design, airflow is promoted through the open coil structure, helping to regulate temperature while you sleep. The medium-firm feel offers targeted support, with the pocketed springs adapting to your body’s curves. This design aims to maintain spinal alignment regardless of whether you sleep on your side, back, or in a combination position. The independent spring design also isolates motion, absorbing movement so you are less likely to be disturbed by a partner. The materials are CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certified, indicating they are free from fiberglass and meet strict low-VOC standards. You can place this mattress on any standard full-size frame without compatibility issues. The 365-night trial allows you to adjust to the firmness level over time, ensuring the support matches your needs. The 10-year warranty covers structural integrity, providing long-term reliability for your sleep environment.
Check Compatibility Before Buying
Before you finalize your purchase, verify that your existing bed frame can support a 14-inch hybrid unit. This VISCOFLEX model weighs 77.4 pounds, so ensure your slats or base are sturdy enough to handle the load without sagging. You should also check that your sheets fit a 14-inch depth, as standard sizes may not cover the full height comfortably. Since the mattress arrives compressed in a box, allow it to expand fully on your frame before using it. Consider whether you need additional bed rails or a specific foundation to maintain stability. This firm option suits those who prefer substantial support, but you must ensure your sleeping surface is compatible with its height and weight. Reviewing these practical details helps you avoid fit issues and ensures the mattress performs as intended alongside other hybrid options in your bedroom setup.
