Zinus vs LIFEMENT: Key Spec Differences
Thickness and height
The Zinus model measures 8 inches tall, while the LIFEMENT option stands at 12 inches. This four-inch difference affects how the mattress sits on your bed frame and how much clearance you have underneath for storage. The thicker LIFEMENT build includes more foam layers, which can alter the feel of the sleep surface. The Zinus profile is lower, making it a lighter option that may be easier to maneuver during setup. You should check your bed frame height limits before choosing between the two profiles.
Firmness level
LIFEMENT specifies a medium firm feel, which offers a balanced support level for various body types. The Zinus listing does not state a specific firmness rating in its published data. This makes it harder to predict exactly how the Zinus foam will feel under your weight. The LIFEMENT medium firm designation suggests it is designed to prevent excessive sinkage while still providing contouring. If you prefer a defined support level, the LIFEMENT specification gives you a clearer expectation of the sleep experience compared to the unspecified Zinus feel.
Cooling features
LIFEMENT uses graphite-infused memory foam to help move heat away from the body, promoting a cooler sleep surface. The Zinus mattress incorporates green tea and ActivCharcoal into its foam layers to help with freshness and moisture absorption. While both aim to improve the sleep environment, the LIFEMENT graphite layer is explicitly designed for thermal regulation. The Zinus approach focuses more on odor control and moisture management. If heat dissipation is your primary concern, the graphite technology in the LIFEMENT build offers a dedicated cooling mechanism.
Certifications and safety
Both mattresses carry CertiPUR-US certification, ensuring the foam meets standards for content, durability, and performance. LIFEMENT adds OEKO-TEX certification for its textiles, which verifies the cover fabric is free from harmful substances. Additionally, LIFEMENT is built without fiberglass, which can simplify maintenance and reduce irritation risks. The Zinus data does not mention OEKO-TEX or fiberglass-free construction. For buyers prioritizing comprehensive material safety and textile standards, the LIFEMENT certifications provide a broader safety profile.
Weight and shipping
The Zinus mattress weighs 36.7 pounds, making it significantly lighter than the LIFEMENT option at 58.4 pounds. This weight difference matters if you plan to rotate the mattress frequently or move it into an upper-floor bedroom. The lighter Zinus build is easier to handle during setup and maintenance. The heavier LIFEMENT mattress indicates a denser construction with more material, which may contribute to its durability. Consider your physical ability to lift and maneuver the mattress when deciding between the lighter Zinus and the sturdier LIFEMENT.
Which Zinus or LIFEMENT fits you
Back sleepers needing firm support on a budget
The Zinus model offers a lower profile at 8 inches thick. It uses a 4-inch high-density base support foam core. This construction provides a stable, firm surface ideal for back sleepers. The 2-inch memory foam comfort layer adds mild contouring without excessive sink. You get pressure relief while maintaining spinal alignment. The CertiPUR-US certification ensures safe material content for your bedroom environment.
Hot sleepers wanting cooling graphite foam
The LIFEMENT mattress features graphite-infused memory foam in the top layer. Graphite helps move heat away from your body to keep you cool. The 12-inch height includes an open-cell design that enhances airflow. This breathable structure prevents heat buildup during the night. You benefit from a cooler sleep surface compared to standard foams. The medium-firm feel suits side and stomach sleepers who need temperature regulation.
Sleepers prioritizing motion isolation and safety
LIFEMENT includes a transition layer designed to absorb motion and minimize disturbance. This feature helps when you share your bed with a partner. The mattress is also built without fiberglass, offering a cleaner safety profile. OEKO-TEX certified textiles add an extra layer of material safety. The 3-layer adaptive support system provides stability while isolating movement. You enjoy undisturbed rest with peace of mind regarding household safety standards.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Zinus 8-inch model good for side sleepers?
It is not the best choice. The Zinus model is rated for average-weight back sleepers on a budget. Its 8-inch height and firm base may not provide enough contouring for side sleepers who need pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. You might find the surface too firm for comfortable side sleeping.
Does the LIFEMENT mattress use graphite for cooling?
Yes, it does. The LIFEMENT model includes graphite in its memory foam construction to help manage heat. This feature makes it suitable for sleepers who prioritize cooling and heat management. It offers a stable sleep surface that helps regulate temperature better than standard foam options.
How much heavier is the LIFEMENT mattress compared to Zinus?
The LIFEMENT mattress weighs 58.4 pounds, while the Zinus model weighs 36.7 pounds. This makes the LIFEMENT option significantly heavier by about 21.7 pounds. The difference comes from its greater thickness and denser foam layers, which add weight but also provide more height and support.
Can I use the Zinus mattress on a low bed frame?
Yes, its low profile is ideal for this. The Zinus mattress is only 8 inches tall, so it sits closer to the ground. This lower height is useful if you have limited clearance under your bed or prefer a lower sleeping position. It fits well on standard frames without adding excessive height.
Is the LIFEMENT mattress firm or soft?
It is medium firm. The LIFEMENT model is designed to offer a stable and supportive surface. This firmness level helps with pressure relief while maintaining a cool sleep environment. It is a good match for those who want support without feeling too hard or too sinky.
Do both mattresses come in full size?
Yes, both are available in full size. The Zinus model measures 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. The LIFEMENT mattress shares these exact dimensions. Both brands offer this size for single sleepers or smaller bedrooms, ensuring they fit standard full-size bed frames and sheets.
